Kyle was a young adult with ADHD who was involved with employability services in Dundee. They approached us and asked if there were any volunteering positions available that he could take up. After joining us in February 2018 Kyle is now a regular volunteer two days a week in our charity shop.
When Kyle first began volunteering he lacked confidence and organisational skills. In that time he has gained skills in customer service, cash handling, and using a till. He can now also follow instructions, complete tasks and is punctual in his time keeping.
Kyle says of working in the charity shop;
"Since working in the ADHD Charity Shop I have got more confident dealing with people I find it fun now and before I was much shyer talking to people.
I have learned many new skills while volunteering here, using the till and dealing with cash, serving customers, steaming clothes for sale and keeping the shop clean and tidy. I think the volunteering here in the Charity Shop has given me skills I can now carry with me in life. I now do not mind even when the shop is busy, there is always something to do and keep me interested"
